VAGELIS STEFANOPOULOS

Pianist and composer Vagelis Stefanopoulos creates heartfelt, imaginative, and meditative soundscapes on his new solo album, “Meditations.” Known for his musicality and aesthetics, Stefanopoulos stands out for his ability to navigate through various styles and genres seamlessly. He brings to his music the refined technique and tone gained from his study of classical piano, along with a vast experience in jazz, pop, world music, and minimalist electronic music.

In "Meditations," sounds from his synthesizer and digital sound manipulation intertwine with the beautiful tones of the Fazioli grand piano and electric guitar. Stefanopoulos’ past recordings have evolved from trios to quintets, extending to a 20-piece ensemble with string orchestra, horns, and rhythm section. However, with "Meditations," he ventures into a freer, more open musical universe.

The album consists of four improvisations and two compositions for solo piano, aiming to portray the process of meditation poetically. Stefanopoulos' innovative approach and diverse musical influences make "Meditations" a unique and captivating listening experience.
