ELENI

NYC and Athens based, Eleni is a vocalist, composer, producer, and educator whose work bridges jazz, Greek traditional music, and global folk traditions through improvisation and original composition.

BIO

Eleni is a vocalist, composer, producer and educator, based in Brooklyn since 2015, and currently splits her time between NY and Athens. Though she began as an Art History student at SOAS in London, she graduated with a Bachelor in Drama and Dance at Tufts University. Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in vocal performance focusing on traditional music from different countries around the world with a focus on improvisation, she has been performing and recording as a leading artist and collaborator, delving deeper into South American folklore, jazz, Greek traditional music and original compositions influenced by many contemporary sounds.

 

​Some collaborations include her participation as a vocalist on American-Croatian artist Thana Alexa’s Grammy nominated album Ona (Best Jazz Vocal Album), and on Mexican singer songwriter Leonel Garcia’s Latin Grammy nominated album Amor Pasado (Best Folk Album). Eleni has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, National Sawdust, Park Avenue Armory, MOMA, Aganis Arena, National Sawdust, Megaron Athens Concert Hall, Casa Patas, Lech Jazz Festival, Cretan World Music Festival, Brooklyn Folk Fest, NYC Mediterranean Jazz Festival, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the Latin Grammys with Alejandro Sanz and more. She has performed with artists from around the world, some of which include Argentinian folklore virtuoso Juan Falu, Uruguayan singer/songwriter Jorge Drexler, Israeli jazz pianist Shai Maestro, Texan singer songwriter Emily Elbert, Argentinian singer/songwriter Juana, bassist and composer Petros Klampanis.

 

​​Eleni has facilitated vocal improvisation workshops through her practice BodySong at Bobby McFerrin's annual Circlesongs program at Omega Institute, exploring the importance of movement and the body in the process of learning one's voice. She has been an annual teacher for vocal improvisation workshops at Megaron Athens Concert Hall, Global Music Foundation (Certaldo Italy, London), IswiB (Serbia), All The Way In (Hawaii, California, Canada) with Rhiannon, In Motion Beat summer school tour in Italy, and more.

 

Since 2017 Eleni has been a Carnegie Hall Teaching Artist for Lullaby Project composing music with families across all boroughs of New York and through online sessions world wide. Since 2020 she has been teaching LP workshops at several international partners including Stavros Niarchos Foundation and El Sistema Greece. She has been a music mentor at Stuttering Association for the Young and Musicalmente NYC, offering music lessons to children with autism. Her continued work with El Sistema Greece, SNFCC and Megaron Athens Concert Hall as a composer and educator have given her the opportunity to connect her teachings in improvisation between New York and Athens. Through her collaboration with Solidarity Now Eleni has taught and lead the children's choir at KYADA, City of Athens Reception and Solidarity Center. ​Her collaboration with The Benaki Museum as Artistic Director of the exhibition closing concert 'A Musical Journey to Asia Minor: Memory, Inspiration and Creation' in 2022 marked her beginning in concert production and artistic direction.

 

Eleni has been nominated for a GIWA (Greek International Women Award) in 2017. In 2023 she was selected for the "Gefyres" Series, a prominent, long-running artistic program at the Megaron The Athens Concert Hall dedicated to musical, cultural, and artistic fusion.

 

Her Greek record Ksaná was released in January 2026 with Minos EMI, Universal Music Group, as well as her renditions of two jazz standards duo with Shai Maestro on piano. Her upcoming album, Cielo, a collection of Latin American compositions reimagined, will be released in Fall 2026.

 

Music has been a guiding force in Eleni’s life and through it, wishes to bring joyand ease to others whilst creating a stronger sense of community every step of the way.
