BIO
Pianist and composer Thanasis Valsamis holds a degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the
Department of Music at Ionian University (2017) and a Master’s degree in Jazz Improvisation
and New Technologies from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2025). He has
also attended jazz piano classes under the direction of Aaron Parks, Shai Maestro, and Kenny
Werner at Siena Jazz University.
Active in the contemporary jazz and modern creative music scene, Valsamis approaches
performance as an open dialogue — between structure and spontaneity, tradition and
experimentation. His appearances at festivals such as Syros Jazz Festival and Jazz on Tinos
reflect an ongoing exploration of collective expression and improvisational depth.
His debut recording, Area Libera (Irida Music, 2020), introduced a compositional approach
marked by spaciousness and narrative flow. With Deepest Load Line (PK Musik, 2025), he
expands this language further moving deeper into layered sonorities and subtle rhythmic
architectures.
His music has been featured on national radio and has drawn praise for its sensitivity, clarity,
and distinctive artistic identity.
