VANGELIS VRACHNOS QUARTET
Born in Thessaloniki in 1989, Vangelis Vrachnos is a versatile musician who blends classical and jazz influences, honed through studies at local conservatories and Codarts Academy in Rotterdam. Known for founding the Yako Trio and Mordana, he has performed at prestigious festivals and venues across Europe and Greece, and recently debuted his personal project, the Vangelis Vrachnos Quartet, with the album Astrografia.
ABOUT
Born in 1989 in Thessaloniki. He came in contact with classical and jazz music as a student in local conservatories, and later at Codarts Academy in Rotterdam. After returning to Thessaloniki, he created with L.Pasias and G.Klountzos-Chrysides the Yako Trio (''Ode to Yannis''-2018, ''OdesSea''-2022) and later on with his brother P.Vrachnos the Mordana (''Roots''- 2021). He has collaborated with great musicians of the jazz and contemporary traditional scene such as D.Donnef, H.Lambrakis, K.Anastasiadis, J. Wylie, S.Votskos. He has taken part in major festivals both abroad (Odessa Jazz Fest – Ukraine, World Music Festival – Albania, Radio Plovdiv & Kyustendil Concert Hall – Bulgaria, Šumadijski Jazz Festival – Serbia, Prilep Jazz Weekend – North Macedonia, Aglanjazz-Cyprus), as well as in Greece, where he has performed at important festivals and venues such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and the Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival. The Vangelis Vrachnos Quartet is his first personal quartet and the album ''Astrografia'' is the first album of the V.V Quartet.
